Earth Day

Amen Par Ankh Earthday

The Amen Par Ankh in Kansas City is celebrated Earthday during the Vernal Equinox! We also contribute to the Earth Day celebrations in April.

The Envisioning of New Life at Amen Par Ankh Earth Day Celebration Is held at the Freedom Fountain Amphitheatre

We gather from 10:00am for our Noon Libations and Festival of the Peret Seeds.

We will have an online presentation with workshops on Envisioning- Vision boards, Mandela Healing circles, Dream Catchers, Smudge sticks, and other Make and Take items for contributions.

Earth Day is an annual celebration usually recognized in the spring. Many special events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for Ecology and environmental protection and stewardship. Mother Earth is a nurturing life-giving force. She responds to the season and elemental powers of the son and atmosphere.

Kemetic deities evolved over time. As the old kingdom gave way to the middle kingdom, Mut was transformed into Het-Heru (Hathor), and ultimately Auset (Isis). Auset is the goddess of the earth. This page describes her in her capacity as Mother Nature, the goddess progenitor of animals, and the inventors of new plant life. Ancient Greeks identified Auset with the goddess Aphrodite (foam-arisen) and the Romans as Venus. Both Aphrodite and Venus were considered goddesses of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and, through association as Earth Mother.

In Afrika and all over the world, many figurines of what appears to be an amply endowed and pregnant human female, have been unearthed during archaeological excavations. This Icon of the Great Queen Mother Goddess is symbolized to help us to embrace our planet and reconnect with life and all nature.

One of the most famous of these figurines, is the Venus of Willendorf. She is believed to have been carved somewhere between 24,000 to 22,000 BCE, in the Upper Paleolithic or late Stone Age. It is widely believed that these figurines represent the mother goddess of fertility.

These most ancient depictions of a mother goddess further suggest a more sophisticated and global view of a creator goddess or Earth Mother. This “Earth as Mother” motif is found in many mythologies around the planet. The goddess figure embodies or personifies a fertile earth. She is seen as the creative force, often giving birth to a myriad of other deities, or to the universe itself.

In Sumerian mythology, the earth goddess Ki (cuneiform ki is the sign for earth) as the consort of Anu, an earth god. It is Anu and Ki who give birth to the Anunnaki, recently made popular by proponents of Ancient Astronaut Theory.
The notion of an earth mother Mut or Maut (Ma'at) is the ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) mother goddess. Mut was known as the “primal mother of all who was born of the sun.” As a creator deity, Mut was revered as the mother from whom the cosmos emerged. She is associated with the primordial waters of Amen, from which everything was born.
Through parthenogenesis, a form of asexual reproduction in which the development of embryos occur without fertilization- Immaculate Conception… (shades of the virgin birth mythos)

Just as Aphrodite is portrayed as emerging from the sea upon a scallop shell, so is the ancient title for the Blessed Virgin Mary the Star (Polaris or the North Star) of the Sea. With Mother Mary, the virgin birth motif is carried into Christian mythology. Although modern Christianity does not necessarily view Mother Mary as an Earth or Mother Goddess, early Christian sects, circa 300AD did.

Modern western culture has multiple representations of Earth Goddess. Most widespread is the Mother Nature motif. Another popular and more recent representation of Earth Goddess is Earth as Gaia. The ancient Greek earth goddess Gaia has in modern times become the name for Gaia philosophy, where it is postulated that organisms interact with their inorganic surroundings on Earth to form a self-regulating, complex system that contributes to maintaining the conditions for life on the planet.

An intriguing psychedelic and shamanic mythology for Mother Nature is personified in the South American Mother Ayahuasca motif. Mother Ayahuasca is a benevolent and loving entity encountered by shamans.
In our modern world of climate change and renewed pressures placed upon our precious natural resources, a deeper understanding of “Goddess” or Queen Mother earth-based philosophy is vitally important. Let us not forget that our shared Mother Earth is but a tiny speck in the vastness of space.

Living consciously is not only about knowing the Glory of Our-Story and the heritage of our Ancient Ancestors. We must breathe new life back into our Children by cultivating living creative spiritual lifestyles!

*How many of our Indigo Families practice their own languages and disabused their US surnames- outside of US religion or cult indoctrination?
*How many of our families name their infants and newly born souls, after a spiritually conscious name that aligns with their destiny?

*How many have a relationship with a local Spiritual Elder, counselor or mentor, who can connect and share the Destiny, Health, Career, and Relationships of your family network? Many only depend on organized Indoctrinations of Religions or organizations from their oppressors, that function outside of their families for consultations and advice.

*How many conscious families Meditate, Venerate their Ancestors, Chant, Pray together?

*How many practice Breathing, Martial Arts, Exercise, Massage, Listen to music together, or even, play, sing, dance, exercise, draw or paint together?

*How many families constructively come together to assess growth and development and plan for generational wealth? Economics is a family-based system, our greatest economic success from our Ancestral past would last and accumulate for thousands of years! We practiced communal, family-based, gnome-driven Group economics. These structures provided generational and residual wealth.

*Do you have vision boards in common to envision a place together in your future?

*How many families home-school their children?

*Do you read to or with your children? What choices of books do you share?

*How many of our families EAT and drink together? What are we feeding our youth?

*Are we growing our own foods and healing herbs, and know that the Mind Soul and Body are connected?

*How many youth are involved with a rite of passage program?

*How many youth are directly connected to a Family elder or Mentor?

*How many families homestead, or hunt, fish, or create or produce together collectively?

*How many own their own land and resources

*How many manufacture and produce their own products that they need?

*How many create cultural and industrial Arts and crafts? There are now an abundance of Alternative healing resources available for people to live prosperously.

*Do we celebrate the seasons of life- The Equinoxes and Solstices?

*Do we take nature walks and commune with the universe like Birding, Plant Identification, Stargazing, Sun-watching, Moongazing visiting spiritual centers like mounds or caves?

*Do we bless our homes and new businesses with a Spiritual Elder who can cleanse and bring good spirits to our environments?
* Do we should employ and seek the counsel of our elders for accountability, in all-new matters and concerns...

We must encourage our youth to return to their neighborhoods and families to rebuild our own economies, outside of the Race supremacy system. Other cultural communities are successful because they Love and employ their own youth in a family-based economic system for accountability. We have cooperative economic systems based on culture, language, foods, and manufacturing/production.

Afrikan Dance

In Afrika, dance is the worship of the Divine with the body. Our bodies are the temple of the most high. Our bodies are wonderfully made. Dance is much more than physical movement- it is a direct way to celebrate life and create healing for the dancer and the audience. Afrikan Dance is a healing tradition of expressive movements that are unique to Afrikans and their Cultural heritages found all over the diaspora of the planet. From the movements of nature and everyday life, Indigo people of Afrikan descent developed specific dances to summon the energy of the world around them into their bodies - the Temple of Life- for connection, communication, Cultural expression, and healing. We dance in a roundabout, where everyone is a participant. We thank the drummers for the tempo, polyrhythm, and vibrational energy.  Through dance, we become the Griots telling the stories of the hàunt, the harvest birds, the water, the wind, the fire, the plants and the giant creatures.
These inceptions align with our chakra energy sites, glandular stimulation zones, and Circulatory system...

Dance is a proverb expressing the Elemental principals and Powers, The character, strength, and energy of a majestic animal, as well as the nurturing, meditative, relaxing, and transformative and organic nature of our environment.  Afrikan Dance is the recognition of our body's own inherent wisdom. Dance is a healing and spiritual endeavor and has become a creative force for transformation. Dancing told the stories of daily news and events as well as the histories of families and communities.
African Dance incorporates an understanding and value of culture deeply rooted in a community. Everyone respects each other, listens, is intuitively aware of space, and pays attention to breathing. We are connected to culture through dances, drumming, and songs that relate our rich Afrikan history. Dances from all of the Afrikan Diaspora are celebrated- From the Motherland of West Afrika: Guinea, Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, and other Sub-Saharan countries as well as Arabic, Indian, Haitian, Caribbean, and the Americas.

Experiencing our own natural movements, spirit, and sense of humor through improvisation is also cultivated. Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and Hip Hop have their own origins in the global Afrikan dance Diaspora.

Afro-Hip-Hop Dance

My vision is to garner the expression and energy of our community’s youth, with Amen Ankh Akademy and represent Kansas City metro in local, state and national competitions. I would like to create a variety of artistic expressions that will go on from adolescence into adulthood. Ultimately, I would like to foster a positive climate for Amen Ankh Akademy to become a Mecca that draws the interest, not only to create a sustainable community but a nation. https://amen-ankh.blogspot.com

Dance Squads are team sport activities that use organized routines made from elements of dance, jumps and stunts to direct spectators to events and to cheer on sports teams at games and matches. The athletes involved are called dancers or a Dance Team. Currently, there are a variety of opportunities for a team to compete at Local, State, and National competitions.

“Dance Squads” first appeared in the form of traditional customs and rituals of indigenous cultures for ceremonial rites, (Hunting and fishing parties, funerals, weddings etc.) as a display of respect for the community elders and rulers, and to encourage the hunters or warriors, as they embarked on their missions. This was important, as the Hunter/Warrior represented the very survival of the community. In many cases, drum, dance and oral culture have played a more central role than written communication particularly in the communication of history, tradition and culture between generations.
Placing great value on improvisation, Afrikan American vernacular dances are characterized by ongoing change and development. Because they exist in social spaces and their main 'purpose' is self-expression, they are continually changing to reflect the needs, interests and personalities of their participants. They are also often characterized by their 'stealing' or 'borrowing' from other dance traditions and any particular Afrikan American vernacular dance shows clear evidence of its relationship to other, earlier dances.
Afrikan and American Laborers, incarcerated, and Military, expressed their anguish and pain through work chants and dances.

The phrase 'Afrikan American vernacular dance' is commonly used to refer to those dances which have developed within the Afrikan American communities of the United States from the 1600s. Afrikan people who were captured, enslaved and brought to American and European diaspora, from the  were representative of a wide range of ethnic groups, and their dances and cultural lives were similarly diverse. To speak of an 'African American vernacular dance' without qualification is to ignore the vast range of dance practices and traditions which developed from these African roots in communities across the United States. Afro-American dance in the earliest days was a response to the conditions of Colonialism and the capitalization of everything in the perview of European colonizers. Cultural life for Afrikan enslaved in America was controlled by land owners and varied between individual enslavers, local communities and the work in which laborers were employed. In general terms, though, we can say that much of the rich cultural and social life of Afrikan slaves in America was forbidden  (for a range of reasons, including social, religious, spite, misunderstanding or simple cruelty), compromised by strict rules, replaced by the culture and climate of the enslavers, or combined with this culture of the enslavers, to produce new hybrid forms. New and different cultural traditions developed not only in different cities across America, but on the properties of different slave owners. There were distinct regional variations in dance in Afrikan American communities, developing as a combination of traditions from different Afrikan ethnic groups, the religious and social predicates of enslavers, and other groups within the immediate society, as responses to the musical and social lives of individuals in that community, and in response to different experiences under slavery.

The idea of dividing performance, competitive and social dance, in Afrikan American vernacular dance, is largely an imposition of Western-European class and cultural values. Now, competition plays an important role in social dance in Afrikan and Afrikan American communities. From the cake walk and lindy hop to 'battles' of hip hop, performances have also been integrated into everyday dance life. Here are contemporary examples; Harlem Shake, Krumping, Hyphy, Snap dance, Cha Cha Slide, Line Dance (Booty Call), Lean wit It, Rock wit It, Walk It Out, footworkin, Chicken Noodle Soup, Crip Walk, Gangsta Walk, Tootsee Roll, The Roosevelt, Getting Lite Poole Palace, Butterfly Dance, Jocin, Tone Wop, Crank Dat Soulja Boy, and A-Town Stomp, and Twerk. Many of these moves can be traced directly to Afrika, South America, and the Caribbean. Like Lin-gin and ka ki Lamba

Initially, percussionists established the rhythm background for our performances. Music is always a preference. Acoustic music is a preference, due to the availability of electricity and audio systems.

ADENIKE My Crown Is Precious

The following poem is an expression of the meaning of my name, which means "the Crown is Precious," and my alignment with my Ancient Ancestors, who traveled and establish civilizations all over the planet. We are all composed of stardust.  We are Children of the light. It is my wish to instill positive self-esteem within our youth, and their appearance in the world. Our hair is our beautiful spiraling crowns. The melanin of our skin is a phenomenal covering that is healthy and gorgeous. There is nowhere on this planet, where our Ancient Ancestors have not been. Even right here in the Americas. We were always here before the Caucasian explorers and invaders ever appeared.

As a little girl, my Mom would hot comb my hair for church. l recall, sitting very still in a kitchen highchair, listening to the grease and my hair crackle and pop through the hot comb, and going through the fear of getting burned on my ears or face. I remember her saying , "let me get in this kitchen!" I lived in an integrated environment throughout my childhood, often bullied by caucasian children, who pulled and spat in my hair. Every day I ran home from school to wash my hair. I remembered feeling sorry for myself. I hated myself. Then I remembered one day crying, then wiping away my tears, and just looking in the mirror, and saying to myself, That god made me perfect, just the way I am. I learned to embrace myself... I remember the 70s era and watching many Indigo women wear their hair in Natural Afros, as an expression of Black power. I wore my natural Afro and refused to ever straighten my hair again. My mother bought me wigs to hide my hair at public events. She wanted me to conform and be accepted by caucasians. Later, As an adult, I learned to love my hair! I wore an Afro of natural hair most of my life. Later wore my hair in lox and embraced my KMT Ancient Afrikan Heritage.

Now I teach other Indigo Afrikan Girls to love themselves and absorb a cultural knowledge of self. They learn about natural living, health, and Wellness, whenever I can share, using the Black Panther food program model, with Amen Ankh Akademy- ACE Green STEAM Home School Network and You G.R.O.W.W. Girls- Teach a Girl, Heal a Nation… "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." I have created a Poem about my hair... Called: "ADENIKE! -My Crown Is Precious!"  The print of this poem is available on my site:

Black Pete - Zwarte Piet - African Presence in Early Europe

Zwarte Piet/ Pieten(Black Pete) is depicted annually, as a profound Character who has deep roots in traditional Dutch and Netherlands folklore. He appears in The Netherlands as a Spanish Moor (common to southern Holland in the 1500s), in caricature, as a Black man, with gold earrings and colorful period costumes of a Moor.

Zwarte Piet Befriended and engineered the charity program for Sinterklaas, known as Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus in the United States. Since the 15th century in Holland, Swarte Peiten has been depicted as an engineer and magical accompaniment/companion to Sinter Klaas/Santa Claus/ Saint Nicholas in all of his holiday travels. Zwarte Pieten is today commonly depicted as a black person in the colorful pantaloons, feathered cap and ruffles of a Renaissance Moor, This character and tradition, was later recorded in a children's book published in 1850. Zwarte Pieten is often portrayed as a mischievous but rarely mean-spirited character, the character is believed to have been derived from Bes the spirited Twa man, after the traditions of Ancient Central Africa. Nowadays, Zwarte Pieten has become a much more respected depiction of Sinter Klaas himself, often humorous, self-determined, magical and playful.

Wikipedia:

Zwarte Piet (pronounced ['zʋɑrtə pit], translated to "Black Pete") is the companion of Saint Nicholas (DutchSinterklaas from which the American figure of Santa Claus is derived,) in the folklore of the Low Countries. In its modern form, the character is commonly depicted as a blackamoor, and dressed in stylized colorful Renaissance attire, akin to Maures in European heraldry, and similar to Moorish characters in the "Moors and Christians" Iberian folk festivals commemorating the Reconquista.

Currently, the media is presenting articles about the many Black people who are protesting the public displays of Zwarte Piet by Dutch people wearing "blackface" and Moorish styled costumes. So now the Dutch, meet Globalization –We now exist in a global world and that means we have to expand our knowledge about other cultures and peoples that make up diverse societies. The festival of Black Pete does, appear to be the glaring elephant in the room in the face of the invasion of South Africa by the Dutch!... I now reflect back as a child living in Germany, people were so fascinated by us as a family, when they saw us in public, at Shopping districts. They would sometimes approach me as a child, and touch my skin… Seeing us must have brought back childhood memories of Black Pete. Understanding that the depiction of Moors and Moorish people in Europe has been slanted as one of servitude, now that there are more Black citizens in Europe, due to the colonization of Africa and the rest of the world, We now see people of African descent living as equals and in authority, all over Europe.

The History of the Moors in Europe goes back to a successful harmony of rulership for more than 1000 years.
Yet, Black Twa /Khoisan was actually the first to populate early Europe, more than 150,000 years ago, before the first appearance of Caucasians- 10,000 years ago. Their presence was still in existence, living as Original peoples in Europe. The Twa Khoisan, lived in the Black forest, up to their discovery by Nazis, after WWII. The Nazis gave these remaining Original Europeans the choice of sterilization or incarceration in a death camp.

Black Pete was a free man who voluntarily worked with "Sinterklaas." He had the upper hand over his counterpart and was the essential agent in the success of this operation for children. Yet the perpetuation of the depiction of servitude, (which reinforces the idea that Black people should be always in that role,) together with the notorious and horrible history and tradition of black-face in the US, means that it is time to revisit some of the old traditions and change them. It does matter that the tradition of black-face was most prominent and therefore most hurtful in the United States.

Black-Face was worn by Caucasian men, in the United States in the late 19th through the 20th Centuries of the U.S. For more than 100 years, an act of domestic terrorism against people of African descent, was cast as the laws of Jim Crow. The United States actually created domestic State laws against people of African descent, as a backlash to the reconstruction period, after the domestic Civil War of 1891.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Civil_War
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_the_American_Civil_War
The American Civil War was a war fought in the United States from 1861 to 1865, between the North and the South. The Civil War is the most studied and written about episode in U.S. history. Primarily as a result of the long-standing controversy over the enslavement of black people, war broke out in April 1861
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackface
But as with all things, we must find the balance between honoring what is important and adapting to the needs to respect the human dignity of all. If we wish to remember or honor the tradition of "Black Pete", then let him be portrayed by willing black actors/celebrants and as the willing friend of Sinterklaas that he is, and not a comic figure, slave or buffoon. I know that he has been portrayed by Dutch for countless generations in blackface, as a celebration for children, of a long-forgotten historical person, most likely a Moor. However, the time for blackface anywhere has come to an end.
