Earth Day

Amen Par Ankh Earthday

The Amen Par Ankh in Kansas City is celebrated Earthday during the Vernal Equinox! We also contribute to the Earth Day celebrations in April.

The Envisioning of New Life at Amen Par Ankh Earth Day Celebration Is held at the Freedom Fountain Amphitheatre

We gather from 10:00am for our Noon Libations and Festival of the Peret Seeds.

We will have an online presentation with workshops on Envisioning- Vision boards, Mandela Healing circles, Dream Catchers, Smudge sticks, and other Make and Take items for contributions.

Earth Day is an annual celebration usually recognized in the spring. Many special events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for Ecology and environmental protection and stewardship. Mother Earth is a nurturing life-giving force. She responds to the season and elemental powers of the son and atmosphere.

Kemetic deities evolved over time. As the old kingdom gave way to the middle kingdom, Mut was transformed into Het-Heru (Hathor), and ultimately Auset (Isis). Auset is the goddess of the earth. This page describes her in her capacity as Mother Nature, the goddess progenitor of animals, and the inventors of new plant life. Ancient Greeks identified Auset with the goddess Aphrodite (foam-arisen) and the Romans as Venus. Both Aphrodite and Venus were considered goddesses of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and, through association as Earth Mother.

In Afrika and all over the world, many figurines of what appears to be an amply endowed and pregnant human female, have been unearthed during archaeological excavations. This Icon of the Great Queen Mother Goddess is symbolized to help us to embrace our planet and reconnect with life and all nature.

One of the most famous of these figurines, is the Venus of Willendorf. She is believed to have been carved somewhere between 24,000 to 22,000 BCE, in the Upper Paleolithic or late Stone Age. It is widely believed that these figurines represent the mother goddess of fertility.

These most ancient depictions of a mother goddess further suggest a more sophisticated and global view of a creator goddess or Earth Mother. This “Earth as Mother” motif is found in many mythologies around the planet. The goddess figure embodies or personifies a fertile earth. She is seen as the creative force, often giving birth to a myriad of other deities, or to the universe itself.

In Sumerian mythology, the earth goddess Ki (cuneiform ki is the sign for earth) as the consort of Anu, an earth god. It is Anu and Ki who give birth to the Anunnaki, recently made popular by proponents of Ancient Astronaut Theory.
The notion of an earth mother Mut or Maut (Ma'at) is the ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) mother goddess. Mut was known as the “primal mother of all who was born of the sun.” As a creator deity, Mut was revered as the mother from whom the cosmos emerged. She is associated with the primordial waters of Amen, from which everything was born.
Through parthenogenesis, a form of asexual reproduction in which the development of embryos occur without fertilization- Immaculate Conception… (shades of the virgin birth mythos)

Just as Aphrodite is portrayed as emerging from the sea upon a scallop shell, so is the ancient title for the Blessed Virgin Mary the Star (Polaris or the North Star) of the Sea. With Mother Mary, the virgin birth motif is carried into Christian mythology. Although modern Christianity does not necessarily view Mother Mary as an Earth or Mother Goddess, early Christian sects, circa 300AD did.

Modern western culture has multiple representations of Earth Goddess. Most widespread is the Mother Nature motif. Another popular and more recent representation of Earth Goddess is Earth as Gaia. The ancient Greek earth goddess Gaia has in modern times become the name for Gaia philosophy, where it is postulated that organisms interact with their inorganic surroundings on Earth to form a self-regulating, complex system that contributes to maintaining the conditions for life on the planet.

An intriguing psychedelic and shamanic mythology for Mother Nature is personified in the South American Mother Ayahuasca motif. Mother Ayahuasca is a benevolent and loving entity encountered by shamans.
In our modern world of climate change and renewed pressures placed upon our precious natural resources, a deeper understanding of “Goddess” or Queen Mother earth-based philosophy is vitally important. Let us not forget that our shared Mother Earth is but a tiny speck in the vastness of space.

Living consciously is not only about knowing the Glory of Our-Story and the heritage of our Ancient Ancestors. We must breathe new life back into our Children by cultivating living creative spiritual lifestyles!

*How many of our Indigo Families practice their own languages and disabused their US surnames- outside of US religion or cult indoctrination?
*How many of our families name their infants and newly born souls, after a spiritually conscious name that aligns with their destiny?

*How many have a relationship with a local Spiritual Elder, counselor or mentor, who can connect and share the Destiny, Health, Career, and Relationships of your family network? Many only depend on organized Indoctrinations of Religions or organizations from their oppressors, that function outside of their families for consultations and advice.

*How many conscious families Meditate, Venerate their Ancestors, Chant, Pray together?

*How many practice Breathing, Martial Arts, Exercise, Massage, Listen to music together, or even, play, sing, dance, exercise, draw or paint together?

*How many families constructively come together to assess growth and development and plan for generational wealth? Economics is a family-based system, our greatest economic success from our Ancestral past would last and accumulate for thousands of years! We practiced communal, family-based, gnome-driven Group economics. These structures provided generational and residual wealth.

*Do you have vision boards in common to envision a place together in your future?

*How many families home-school their children?

*Do you read to or with your children? What choices of books do you share?

*How many of our families EAT and drink together? What are we feeding our youth?

*Are we growing our own foods and healing herbs, and know that the Mind Soul and Body are connected?

*How many youth are involved with a rite of passage program?

*How many youth are directly connected to a Family elder or Mentor?

*How many families homestead, or hunt, fish, or create or produce together collectively?

*How many own their own land and resources

*How many manufacture and produce their own products that they need?

*How many create cultural and industrial Arts and crafts? There are now an abundance of Alternative healing resources available for people to live prosperously.

*Do we celebrate the seasons of life- The Equinoxes and Solstices?

*Do we take nature walks and commune with the universe like Birding, Plant Identification, Stargazing, Sun-watching, Moongazing visiting spiritual centers like mounds or caves?

*Do we bless our homes and new businesses with a Spiritual Elder who can cleanse and bring good spirits to our environments?
* Do we should employ and seek the counsel of our elders for accountability, in all-new matters and concerns...

We must encourage our youth to return to their neighborhoods and families to rebuild our own economies, outside of the Race supremacy system. Other cultural communities are successful because they Love and employ their own youth in a family-based economic system for accountability. We have cooperative economic systems based on culture, language, foods, and manufacturing/production.

Earth Day Black Queen Mother Goddess

The Amen Par Ankh in Kansas City is celebrating Earth Days beginning Saturday, April 19th, at 9:00am, until the end of the month of April. We will have an internet Podcast presentation with workshops on Envisioning, make and take gifts, of $5-  Mandela Healing circles, Dream Catchers, Smudge sticks, and Vision boards.

Earth day is held after the season of Lent, Passover and Easter or "Resurrection day" and is an annual celebration usually recognized, April 22. Many special events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for Ecology and environmental protection and stewardship. Mother Earth is a nurturing life giving. She responds to the season and elemental powers of the son and atmosphere.

The First Council of Nicaea (325ad) established the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the full moon (the Paschal Full Moon) following the March equinox. Ecclesiastically, the equinox is reckoned to be on 21 March (although the astronomical equinox occurs on 20 March in most years), and the "Full Moon" is not necessarily on the astronomically correct date. The date of Easter therefore varies from 22nd of March to 25th of April.

The name "Easter" is merely the slightly changed English spelling of the name of the ancient Assyrian goddess Ishtar, pronounced by the Assyrians exactly as we pronounce "Easter." The Babylonian name of this goddess was Astarte, consort of Baal, the Sun-god. The Teutonic Goddess Eostra was known as the Goddess of Spring and fertility... Under Constantine in the 4th century AD, the Christians assimilated this festival and called it the Resurrection. So the name Easter is derived from the Goddess Oestare, Ostern, Ishtar,Astarte, Eostra or Eostre, depending upon which cultural literature you read.

The female hormone oestrogen (estrogen) can claim its Latin language roots to this Goddess. The fertility aspect of Ostara is symbolized by the egg. It is believed that eggs and another symbol of fertility - the rabbit - surrounded the Spring Goddess, Eostra. Hot cross buns were another stolen aspect of Ostara by Christians... At the feast of Oestre, an ox was sacrificed.. The ox horns symbolized the feast and were carved into ritual bread . The symmetrical cross has been continued to decorate the buns, that are now commonly called hot cross buns.. So you see it was stolen from the Pagans, Life, Death, Rebirth, it represents to us. The Christians stole it to represent the Resurrection.
Lent was observed in Egypt (Wilkinson's Egyptians). This Kemetic (Egyptian) Lent of forty days was held expressly in commemoration of Asar (Osiris,) symbolic of all things green and growing. (The Two Babylons, by Hislop, pages 104 and 105, and Sabean Researches, by Landseer, p. 112).

Many figurines of what appear to be a black amply endowed and pregnant human female, have been unearthed during archaeological excavations. This Icon of the Great Queen Mother Goddess Nut, is symbolized to help us to embrace our planet and reconnect with life and all nature.

One of the most famous of these figurines, is the Venus of Willendorf. She is believed to have been carved somewhere between 24,000 to 22,000 BCE, in the Upper Paleolithic or late Stone Age. It is widely believed that these figurines represent the mother goddess of fertility.

Afrakan Survival Arts of Capoeira!

 AfRaKan Survival Arts of Capoeira!

Africans who migrated to Brazil brought with them the practice of a combat skill or science (martial art) now called Capoeira. Its methods are acrobatic dances, with the results often brutal, and when needed, deadly.

Born from the ever-present need to protect themselves in a hostile environment, Capoeira was and is composed of feline-like movements, where participants may use cartwheels, flips, handstands and many other acrobatic moves to avoid strikes and injury by opponents. Practitioners use sweeps, kicks, head butts, gouges, and punches in order to strike their opponent. All of these actions are combined to compose a beautiful, yet devastating form of combat art for self-defense, which protected its ancient families and participants from opponents and at time enslavers.

Practitioners of Capoeira gather in a circle, called a Roda, and those who surround the contestants sing, clap and play sacred, very specialized and handmade musical instruments such as the berimbau (string instrument) and drums. This music puts everyone into a meditative trance. Then the contestants perform a movement called the Ginga (Jinga), where they move around each other, almost like a dance, in order to disorient their opponent. After this point, it is open season on both opponents, as contestants leap into an array of deceptive offensive and defensive movements against each other. As one contestant leaves the circle another immediately takes his place. This interaction between the group continues until the group decides to disband.

Its practitioners were able to create such force through their movements and surprise tactics that it was not uncommon for victims to be knocked out suddenly or die from it's blows. Users of this combat art might also place razors between their toes or used hidden knives to unmercifully deal with those who chose to cross their paths.

Capoeira's origins are often disputed. There are many who disagree on whether it arrived with enslaved Africans or whether Africans created it once they reached Brazil. One theory suggest that it was a courtship dance in Angola used by suitors of young women. Another suggests that it was a fighting system that was refined and evolved by Africans to its dancing form in the Brazilian enslavement era. Regardless, of these disagreements, the ultimate truth is that no one disputes that it is an original African creation.

On the numerous plantations of the Brazilian countryside, Africans practiced and used these methods. They would be able to practice this combat art, and refine their skills, in plain sight of their enslavers, because the beautiful songs, chants, specialized instruments and percussion that were played, surrounded and accompanied their "dances."

Much like our Ancestors' practice of Santeria, where, they were not allowed to practice the health and healing practices of their ancient societies of the Voodun and Ifa, they hid their spiritual practice in plain site, using the very Catholic Saint icons and symbols of their enslavers .

Brazilian Maroons, who were Africans who escaped enslavement and formed alliances with "Native Americans", were notorious for using Capoeira against hunters, trackers and soldiers who were attempting to return them to a state of slavery. Survivors of ambushes with Maroons that involved hand-to-hand combat described scenes of mayhem, stating that the Maroons appeared from nowhere striking them with blows from angles that they could not fathom. It was not uncommon to hear of these enslavers running away in an attempt to escape these vicious attacks.

As a result of these deadly interactions that were occurring between Africans and colonialists, Capoeira was banned by "slave owners" and other leading authorities. However, always creative, the community found ways to keep it alive. As Capoeira was incorporated into dance movements in public, secret times and locations were arranged for its practice in private. The actions of the Africans practicing their combat art whenever and however they could ensured the survival of Capoeira throughout Brazil's history of African enslavement.

After the banning of slavery in 1888, Brazil continued to ban the practice of Capoeira and it was widely viewed as base practice by "thugs" and "criminals". Despite restrictions, the official ban of Capoeira could not last and the will of the people defeated the will of the state. Fortunately, many African Brazilians who realized its true value and history did not allow the criminalizing of their combat art and continued to practice Capoeira. Without such restrictions, the martial art of Capoeira has evolved into the form which is practiced today. Elements of the Cultural Arts, dance and combat art have both survived to create an experience which is both mesmerizing as well as instructive.

In conclusion, it is my intention that the role of Africans in Capoeira and in the evolution of combat arts should not be ignored, forgotten or denied. The bravery of its practitioners in the past to protect their freedom and in the present to maintain their traditions is a testament to the fact that true greatness cannot be suppressed and never destroyed.
